HISTORY

During the Spring of 1979, a group of citizens realized there was a need for childcare services for low-income families in Murfreesboro.  Key Memorial United Methodist Church was approached about using their fellowship hall and kitchen as a location for childcare. The program was named Wee Care Day Care Center.  The numbers were increasing so fast and more space was needed.  The group met with the city mayor and councilmen requesting a building in this area.

The City of Murfreesboro had received a federal grant for about ten (10) projects in the city, since the Stewart Air Force Base had closed and many of the soldiers were relocated in other states.  Murfreesboro choose the current location to build a day care center.  With the assistance of Mr. William Butler, Sr., Mrs. Nannie Rucker and other members, the center was built at 510 South Hancock Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37130 and ready for occupants in 1980.
